Recently I discovered a stack of articles on promising start-ups from non-health business magazines. As I re-read the articles, I wondered how the companies were doing and if they even still existed. It’s interesting to hear how industry media promotes new firms and predicts their success. But how accurate are these predictions, and how can I track them?
Here’s one article from Oct. 2009 highlighting innovative medical device companies in Inc. Magazine. The devices include a suture-free process for cataract incisions, a potentially effective therapy for spinal cord injuries, and silicone tubing that releases a local anesthetic to ease painful bladder syndrome. All sound innovative, but is an innovative idea enough to keep the firm alive? Check them out on this public watchlist. Feel free to subscribe to the list and track how the companies perform over time.
