MIT $100K Business Plan Competition Kickoff

images The MIT $100K Business Plan Competition, probably the most well known entrepreneur competition in the Boston area, if not the U.S., will kickoff on February 11 at 7:30 pm in Building 10-250 (aka the Bush Room in the Maclaurin Building, under the dome). Based on my experiences with the event during previous years, attendance will be standing room only. The evening also wraps up the Executive Summary Contest – winners will rejoice, losers (if there really is such a thing!) will refocus on their Business Plans.

The MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition consists of three separate contests: the Elevator Pitch, the Executive Summary, and the Business Plan. If you’re not an MIT student, no worries – anyone can enter the Elevator Pitch contest, and you only need one MIT student on the team for the other contests.

There are six tracks for each contest – Development, Energy, Life Sciences, Products and Services, Mobile, and Web/IT.

A contact of careinnovators on the $100K leadership team is actively seeking sponsors and mentors for the Life Science Track. Sponsorship levels vary. You can choose to promote your company during just the Business Plan Competition. For more exposure, you can be a sponsor for the entire year, with promotion in all of the $100K contests, and the opportunity to be invited to the VIP guest list.

Venture capital and legal mentors are also needed to assist the five semi-finalists for a two-month period of the competition. It’s a great opportunity to get to know these rising stars.
