Take a break and check out the slide show “The Year’s Most Amazing Scientific Images” according to Popular Science magazine. The collection is actually a mix of 2009 and previous years (sneaky, PopSci!), but surely you’ll discover something new to you. Only a handful of the photos are health care related, including magnified inner ear hair cells (image 1), microelectrodes on the brain (image 2), and a reanimated heart (image 24). Aerial landscape photos, robotic innovations, and planetary wonders are just a few of the other stunning images. While the technologies represented in the photographs are absolutely noteworthy, the photographers who captured the moments so beautifully deserve big kudos as well.
