Functional Genetics, Inc. (FGI) is a privately-held, development stage biotechnology company. We use innovative science to develop better medicines to treat or prevent infectious diseases and cancer. We apply our strategies to medically-relevant and commercially-attractive opportunities.

VirusOur unique scientific approaches have allowed us to develop novel antiviral Drugs that demonstrate beneficial activity against a broad-spectrum of different viruses, including HIV, RSV, Influenza, HBV, HCV and bio-threat pathogens, such as Ebola. As a development-stage biotechnology company, our innovative approaches accelerate the identification of safe and effective new antivirals. We have also led a new approach to target host mechanisms that can safely prevent viral diseases.

Using our proprietary technologies, we can interrogate every gene in a cell to identify targets that cause changes of interest. We have applied this technology to address important questions in cancer, infectious disease, Alzheimer’s and cardiovascular diseases. Improvements in our technologies allow us to fill or refill our pipeline with validated targets within weeks, rather than months or years. Our discovery technology also provides advantages in terms of intellectual property (patents) since the majority of our discovered targets had not been previously described.
