Revotar develops innovative anti-inflammatory Drugs for inflammatory indications such as psoriasis, acute lung injury (ALI) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The targeted disease areas all provide large markets which are rapidly increasing due to aging populations and improved diagnosis. Markets for psoriasis and COPD exceed several billion US$ and existing therapies do not meet present medical needs. There is no causative treatment available for COPD. ALI as an orphan drug indication within a high price segment offers Revotar the potential to develop Bimosiamose up to market authorization and commercialisation.

The Company owns the key drug candidate Bimosiamose, the world’s furthest developed pan-selectin antagonist. It has already passed several clinical phase I and phase IIa trials in asthma and psoriasis with a good safety and efficacy profile in over 200 human beings and over a dozen preclinical in-vivo models. Revotar has a pipeline of two further preclinical programs.

In summer 2006 Revotar announced the signing of a Start-Up Development Agreement with a US Pharma company for the further development of Bimosiamose in one major disease area. The agreement includes a one time payment to Revotar and an option to enter into a Development and License Agreement with certain specified milestone payments and royalties.

Revotar’s business strategy as a product-driven company is to advance proprietary, value-added drug products with clinical proof-of-efficacy up to phase IIa in inflammatory diseases, and to commercialize these products through collaboration with selected pharmaceutical companies. In selected niche indications, Revotar develops its products up to market authorization.

The present revenue strategy of Revotar aims at an early return of investment for shareholders. Out-licensing of projects or partnering in projects generate various opportunities for obtaining revenues through down-payments and milestone compensations, as demonstrated with the Start-Up-Development Agreement with the US Partner.

Revotar Biopharmaceuticals AG is a privately held German company financed by experienced VCs. The company was founded in August 2000.
