Delegates attending this course will benefit from an introductory overview of the terminology and classification of cancer and principle issues in its treatment. Commonly available anti-cancer Drugs will be reviewed, particularly in relation to mode of action, dose intensity and chemotherapy regimes. This will lead on to a detailed study of the range of side effects commonly and uncommonly experienced by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Quality of life issues will also be discussed in terms of overall assessment and interpretation of results.

Detailed consideration will then be given to the treatment of lung, breast, upper GI, colorectal, ovarian, prostate and skin cancers. Each of these sessions, presented by clinicians active in these areas, will focus on overall patient presentation and management, diagnosis and staging. Our experts will then lead delegates in interactive group discussions of key issues relating to effective management of each of these tumor types.

The limitations of currently available cytotoxic Drugs are well known. For this reason delegates will find the course includes in-depth discussions of new drug development and identification of new pharmacological targets of particular interest and value. Clinical trial design issues in early and randomised trials will also be covered.
