Are you ready to take the Challenge?
All universities with healthcare-related programs are invited to form competing teams to participate in helping make the quantum shift to a new age of healthcare. You are invited to take part in this semester-long, trans-disciplinary, online, student team competition and judging process, held by Arizona State University’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation. The winning team will be awarded a $5,000 cash prize.
Rise to the Challenge: Health Innovation 2010 supports Arizona State University’s spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation and collaboration and addresses the critical national need to transform healthcare.
Why this Challenge?
Interdisciplinary innovation must become a way of life if we are to transform healthcare. The healthcare community recognizes that the US healthcare system is in need of fundamental change. Many individuals, organizations, and communities have begun to create change in how clients experience and healthcare professionals provide care. This approach to healthcare improvement represents a step in the right direction. Nevertheless, approaches thus far have often been piecemeal and limited in scope, confined to an organization, sector of industry or geographic region. Large-scale innovation and a paradigm shift in the healthcare delivery system are yet to be realized. Embracing an innovative mindset is critical in moving toward the preferred future of healthcare. As US Deputy Secretary of Commerce, David A. Sampson, stated (2007): “Innovation is critical to addressing these challenges and reaping opportunities. . . Innovative models, especially those that can integrate healthcare activities, can increase efficiency, lower costs, and save lives.”
Eligibility[edit]
All full- or part-time students pursuing any undergraduate or graduate degree program at the same university or institution can form a competing team. Team members can be from different departments or colleges within the same university or institution.
